The most visible
transformation of the CPO portfolio has been the construction
and rehabilitation of over 500 affordable housing units.
The renovation project, begun in 2003, includes a nine-phase
redevelopment plan to overhaul scattered-site apartments
and townhouses in 249 buildings. Once complete, CPO will
house over 3,000 people in safer, more attractive homes
and neighborhoods.
CPO has committed approximately $50,000 for hard
construction costs in the renovation of each unit. Through
this renovation, each unit will receive the following:
• Upgrades/additions to all mechanical/functional
systems
• Central air conditioning
• Showers
• New bath fixtures
• New kitchen appliances/new fixtures
• New lighting
• New flooring
• New doors and windows
Important features which have been added include security
lighting in each community, landscaping, and
hardscaping.

These rowhouses on N. 9th street show how much consideration
and historic analysis was given to restore the homes to
their original splendor. Landscaping and hardscaping were
also added to these units to help improve the image of
the neighborhood. |
